1-1 SEMH Teaching Assistant
- Specialist school
- Gloucester, GL2
- Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs
- KS3 / KS4 students
- Full-time/Long-term
- September start
We're working on behalf of a fantastic specialist setting that provides education and intervention services to children and young people in Gloucestershire. This school looks after a range of needs including ASD, ADHD and physical disabilities but is primarily focused around students with Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs (SEMH).
We have placed multiple educators at the school who are thoroughly enjoying their time there, making a real impact on children's lives. They have a few different sites across Gloucestershire so you may be expected to move around between the sites (driving is a preference but not essential).
The role
The role of SEMH Teaching Assistant is varied, providing general 1-1 support across KS3 and KS4 classes and the teachers. You don't need to be a subject specialist but ideally you would hold a GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths & English and be able to support across a range of subjects.
Enjoying 1-1 support is essential as the support you will be providing is mostly in small group settings - this really gives you the opportunity to build real relationships with the students. Due to the needs of the students it is desirable to have worked with SEMH students before, ideally in a school setting. This is a long-term position.
Having experience working with children is essential and knowledge of SEND and SEMH needs would be ideal!
