Job Overview
We are looking for a practical and reliable Yard Assistant to join our yard team in Macclesfield. This is a hands-on role involving serving the public, organising materials, preparing customer orders, and loading wagons and vehicles. The role suits someone who enjoys physical work, customer interaction, and working as part of a small, hardworking team.
Key Responsibilities
- Serving members of the public and trade customers in a friendly and professional manner
- Organising, sorting, and maintaining materials within the yard
- Picking, preparing, and checking customer orders
- Loading wagons and customer vehicles safely and efficiently
- Keeping the yard tidy, organised, and safe at all times
- Assisting with general yard duties as required
- Adhering to all health and safety procedures
- Assisting on the counter when required.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a reclamation yard, builders’ merchant, or similar environment is helpful but not essential
- Forklift licence is preferred but not essential (training may be available)
- Good customer service and communication skills
- Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling
- Reliable, punctual, and willing to learn
- Ability to work well as part of a team
