At Potential Kids, we provide high-quality before and after-school childcare for primary-aged children. We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Lead Playworker who is passionate about supporting children's development through creative, engaging and inclusive play.
As a Lead Playworker, you will play a key role in delivering outstanding wraparound care. You will be responsible for leading the day-to-day operation of the club, ensuring children are safe, happy and engaged while creating a welcoming environment that meets the needs of every child and their family.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organise and lead a wide range of fun, creative and stimulating activities that support children's physical, emotional, social and cognitive development.
- Ensure the safety, wellbeing and welfare of all children through effective supervision and safeguarding practices.
- Create an inclusive environment where every child feels valued, supported and encouraged to participate.
- Lead the daily operation of the club, providing high-quality care and positive role modelling.
- Build positive relationships with children, parents, carers, school staff and colleagues.
- Communicate effectively with families regarding children's wellbeing and daily experiences.
- Support, motivate and work collaboratively with other members of the team.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation and health and safety at all times.
We're Looking for Someone Who...
- Has a genuine passion for working with primary-aged children.
- Enjoys planning and delivering engaging play and recreational activities.
- Is enthusiastic, caring and committed to providing exceptional childcare.
- Is reliable, punctual and professional.
- Has excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Can demonstrate leadership qualities and a willingness to develop others.
- Works well both independently and as part of a team.
- Has experience working with children aged 4–11 years.
Essential Requirements
- Level 2 qualification (or above) in Childcare, Playwork or an equivalent recognised qualification.
- Experience working with children aged 4–11 years.
- A good understanding of children's individual needs and stages of development.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- The ability to plan and facilitate safe, engaging and inclusive play opportunities.
- A good standard of spoken and written English to support children's wellbeing and effective communication.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Level 3 qualification in Childcare, Playwork or an equivalent recognised qualification.
- Experience working within a play-based or wraparound care setting.
- Current safeguarding and child protection training.
- A valid Paediatric First Aid certificate.
- Current Food Hygiene and Allergy Awareness certification.
- Level 1 Sports Coaching qualification (or equivalent).
- Full, clean UK driving licence.
