The Context
The Inspire Arts Trust is a national charity with the aim of developing young people through music, dance and the creative arts; and inspiring them to realise their potential, be creative and live their dream. Inspire has a lot to offer including our performing arts academy BALPA which opens its doors to over 200 young people each week, as well as schools and youthwork opportunities. Many of the young people they train have opportunities to sing, dance and perform at various local events including the Thornbury Lights Switch on.
Status: Wednesday 3.30 – 8pm, Thursday 5 – 8.30pm, Friday 3.30 – 6pm, Saturday 9.45am – 12.15pm (timings may change). Can be a job share (2 days minimum must be covered by each applicant)
Purpose of the Role: To promptly and efficiently deal with incoming and outgoing telephone calls and visitors to NGM and Inspire. To welcome pupils, make drinks and talk to parents when classes are happening. To keep the reception area well-stocked and tidy. To open and lock the complex when needed.
Receptionist Duties
- Delivering a high level of customer service by answering incoming enquiries via telephone passing them on to the appropriate person.
- Welcoming all visitors for classes plus offering and making drinks and giving refreshments when parents are waiting for children.
- Taking payments and bookings for classes, lessons, shows and events and recording these. (Training will be given).
- Receiving deliveries.
- Keeping the reception area clean and tidy and refreshments and promotional literature displays up to date.
- Offering support to parents when needed. (Full training will be given).
- Ensuring no children leave without their responsible adult and monitoring any children trying to hide in toilets etc. (Please note a full DBS Enhanced check will be needed for this role which Inspire will fund)
- Being an emergency first aider and the first line of call in an accident. (Inspire can fund any training necessary).
- Supporting the tutor in an emergency.
- Ensuring good practice is followed in respect of NGM & Inspire’s general policies – Health & Safety and Equal Opportunities.
Personal Requirements
· Excellent people skills.
· Ability to assist nervous children and parents.
· Good computer skills are desirable.
· Honest, discreet and trustworthy.
· This person fulfilling this role will be a key member of the staff team at Inspire. As such this person will be expected to fully support the aims and vision of both charities when carrying out their duties.
Pay: £13.45 per hour
