Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Professional Handyman / Maintenance Technician to join our facilities team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance, repair, and improvement works across buildings, grounds, and equipment. The ideal candidate will possess strong practical knowledge of building maintenance, carpentry, plumbing, painting, basic electrical repairs, and general troubleshooting.
This role requires a proactive individual who can work independently, prioritize tasks effectively, and maintain high standards of workmanship while ensuring a safe and well-maintained environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections of buildings, facilities, and equipment to identify maintenance requirements.
- Carry out repairs and maintenance works including carpentry, painting, drywall repairs, flooring repairs, door and lock repairs, and general building maintenance.
- Conduct minor plumbing repairs such as replacing faucets, repairing leaks, clearing blockages, and maintaining sanitary fixtures.
- Perform basic electrical maintenance including replacing light fixtures, switches, sockets, lamps, and ballasts where permitted by regulations.
- Assemble, install, and repair furniture, fixtures, shelving, and equipment.
- Conduct preventive maintenance activities to reduce equipment failures and extend asset life.
- Maintain grounds and outdoor areas including fencing, pathways, signage, and minor landscaping works.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repair situations.
- Coordinate with contractors and suppliers when specialist repairs are required.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Keep tools, equipment, workshops, and storage areas clean and organized.
Qualifications and ExperienceEssential
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in building maintenance, facilities maintenance, or handyman services.
- Proven experience in carpentry, painting, plumbing, and general building repairs.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read basic maintenance manuals, drawings, and work instructions.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Physically fit and capable of performing manual tasks, lifting, climbing ladders, and working in various environments.
Desirable
- Trade certification or vocational qualification in maintenance, carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, or a related field.
- Experience in commercial buildings, residential properties, hotels, schools, healthcare facilities, or industrial sites.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance systems and work order management.
- Valid driver's license.

Pay: £26,000.00-£28,000.00 per year
