Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Health & Safety Adviser to join our organisation. Working closely with the Head of Health & Safety, you will play a key role in supporting the implementation and ongoing maintenance of our Health & Safety Policy and Management System.
You will help embed a strong safety and wellbeing culture across the organisation, ensuring that health and safety standards are applied consistently and effectively. This is a delivery-focused role, providing practical advice, supporting incident investigations, and helping to ensure that risks are identified, assessed and managed appropriately for employees, residents and contractors.
Responsibilities
- Provide practical health and safety advice and guidance to managers and staff across the organisation.
- Promote and support a positive health and safety culture across all teams.
- Support managers in understanding and meeting required health and safety standards.
- Conduct and support incident and accident investigations, ensuring root causes are identified and lessons learned are implemented.
- Escalate serious incidents, risks or non-compliance issues in line with agreed thresholds.
- Maintain accurate records within the Health and Safety Management System and ensure data is up to date.
- Lead or support RIDDOR and Mandatory Occurrence Reporting (MOR), including liaising with external bodies.
- Work collaboratively with HR on employee-related health and safety matters, including reasonable adjustments.
- Support the development and review of health and safety policies, procedures and guidance.
- Undertake inspections, audits and risk assessments, ensuring issues are identified and actions are completed.
- Support DSE assessments and wider workplace health initiatives.
- Deliver training, briefings and communications to improve awareness and compliance.
- Contribute to health and safety assurance through reporting, data analysis and evidence gathering.
Requirements
- Proven experience working in a Health & Safety Adviser or similar role.
- NEBOSH General Certificate (Level 3) or working towards NEBOSH Diploma (Level 6).
- IOSH membership (or working towards).
- Experience of incident investigation, regulatory engagement and performance reporting.
- Experience undertaking health and safety inspections, audits and risk assessments.
- Experience developing and implementing policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of Building Safety and Mandatory Occurrence Reporting (MOR).
- Strong understanding of relevant health and safety legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels.
- Strong analytical and report-writing skills, with the ability to produce clear, evidence-based insight.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work to tight deadlines.
- Sound professional judgement when dealing with high-risk or sensitive situations.

Pay: £45,000.00-£47,000.00 per year
