Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Nursery Chef to prepare nutritious and appealing meals for our young children. The ideal candidate will have experience in food preparation and cooking within a childcare or similar environment, ensuring all meals meet food safety standards. Duties
- Prepare and cook a variety of nutritious meals and snacks suitable for young children, adhering to dietary requirements and preferences.
- Plan weekly menus in collaboration with the nursery team, ensuring a balanced diet.
- Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness in all aspects of meal preparation.
- Manage kitchen stock levels, order supplies as needed, and ensure proper storage of ingredients.
- Cleaning kitchen equipment and work areas after food preparation.
- Follow all health and safety regulations related to food handling and storage.
- Support the nursery team with other related duties as required.
Requirements
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking, preferably within a childcare, restaurant, or catering environment.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in hygiene.
- Experience with meal preparation for young children or infants is desirable.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan menus efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills to work effectively with nursery staff and children.
- Ability to maintain cleanliness and adhere to health regulations at all times.
- Previous experience serving food in a childcare or similar setting is advantageous.
- A genuine passion for providing healthy meals that support children's growth and development.
- Ability to work alone, to manage self, and to work harmoniously with colleagues.
Pay: £13.00-£13.75 per hour
