We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Data Cable Engineer to join our dynamic team! Duties
- Install, terminate, and test fiber optic cables using splicing techniques to ensure high-quality connections and install, terminate and test copper cabling using relevant tools to a high standard
- Set up and configure network hardware including routers, switches, and Ethernet components for optimal network performance
- Perform cable routing, labeling, and management to maintain organized and accessible infrastructure
- Conduct routine inspections of cabling systems, identify issues, and perform repairs or replacements as needed
- Use hand tools such as punch down tools, battery drills and snips
- Fluke testing
- Collaborate with project managers and clients to ensure timely completion of installation projects while adhering to safety standards
Skills
- Proven experience in field service roles involving telecommunication or data cabling installation
- Strong knowledge of fiber splicing techniques for both single-mode and multi-mode fibers
- Familiarity with network installation procedures involving Ethernet cabling and telephony systems
- Hands-on experience working with routers, switches, and other networking equipment is a nice to have
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to use various hand tools effectively in tight spaces
- Ability to read technical diagrams, schematics, and mechanical drawings accurately
- Knowledge of telecommunication standards and best practices for cabling infrastructure
- Experience working with fluke DSX-5000
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with a proactive approach to maintenance and repair tasks
