Job Overview
We are seeking a talented and experienced Chef to join our kitchen teams and oversee all aspects of food production and preparation. The ideal candidate will possess a strong culinary background, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality dishes in our small but fast-paced restaurant environment. You will be responsible for maintaining food safety standards, managing kitchen operations, and ensuring an exceptional dining experience for our guests.
Duties
- Supervise and manage kitchen staff in the absence of the lead chef, fostering a collaborative and efficient working environment.
- Train any new team members or apprentices to a high standard.
- Oversee food production processes, ensuring that all dishes are prepared to the highest standards of quality and presentation.
- Input with menus that reflect seasonal ingredients and culinary trends while catering to customer preferences.
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety regulations and hygiene standards throughout the kitchen including completing regulatory paperwork.
- Train and mentor kitchen staff in food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and best practices in hospitality.
- Monitor inventory levels, ordering supplies as necessary to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
- Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery and guest satisfaction.
- Conduct regular quality checks on food items before they are served to guests.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Chef or in a senior kitchen role within a pub and/or restaurant setting.
- Strong background in food production, preparation, and cooking techniques.
- Demonstrated supervisory experience with the ability to lead and motivate a team effectively.
- In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in the culinary field.
- Previous experience in menu development and cost control is advantageous.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a high-pressure environment.
