About the Provision
This specialist provision on the outskirts of Yeovil supports Secondary-aged girls whose educational journeys have been significantly disrupted by trauma and adverse childhood experiences. Many students are working within KS1 and KS2 pathways and require highly personalised, nurturing support to rebuild trust in education, develop emotional regulation, and re-engage with learning.
The school is proudly trauma-informed, providing a safe, consistent, and therapeutic environment for young people who have experienced exploitation, complex trauma, and prolonged educational disruption. Students present with a range of additional needs including SEMH, PTSD, and EBSA.
The Role
You will play a vital part in helping students feel safe, valued, and capable of success — creating meaningful learning experiences that meet students at their individual starting points while supporting their emotional wellbeing and personal development.
Key responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver highly differentiated lessons across a broad, adaptable curriculum
- Provide targeted interventions and 1:1 support where needed
- Scaffold learning to build confidence, engagement, and independence
- Identify and respond to individual SEMH needs and barriers to learning
- Develop and implement effective IEPs and contribute to EHCP outcomes
- Use restorative and trauma-informed approaches to behaviour and relationship building
- Work collaboratively with families, support staff, therapists, and external agencies
- Monitor progress closely and adapt strategies to evolving student needs
- Create a calm, predictable, nurturing classroom environment where students can thrive
The Ideal Candidate
We're looking for a resilient, compassionate, and reflective educator who understands that relationships are at the heart of learning.
You will have:
- QTS or an equivalent UK-recognised teaching qualification
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, PTSD, EBSA, and other behavioural needs
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed and inclusive teaching approaches
- Excellent behaviour management and de-escalation skills
- The ability to remain calm, consistent, and adaptable in a dynamic environment
- A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people to succeed academically and emotionally
- Commitment to continued professional development and reflective practice
- Right to Work in the UK and the ability to commute to or reside near Yeovil
- An Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
