Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Cafe Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, preparing and serving food and beverages, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. Duties
- Take orders from customers accurately and efficiently, ensuring prompt service
- Prepare and serve a variety of beverages, including coffee, tea, and specialised drinks, adhering to quality standards
- Assist with food preparation tasks such as assembling sandwiches, salads, or baked goods
- Maintain cleanliness of the café area, including tables, counters, and kitchen equipment
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards at all times
- Serve customers with professionalism and courtesy, creating a welcoming atmosphere
- Handle cash transactions accurately using the till system
- Restock supplies as needed to ensure smooth operation during shifts
- Follow health and safety regulations diligently to maintain a safe working environment
Skills
- Knowledge of food safety practices and hygiene standards
- Previous barista experience is desirable but not essential; training will be provided
- Experience in serving customers in a fast-paced environment
- Basic food preparation skills to assist with daily operations
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively during busy periods
- Basic maths skills for handling transactions and cash reconciliation
- Strong time management abilities to prioritise tasks efficiently and ensure timely service
