Preschool SEN Assistant
(Temporary with scope to become permanent)
Kindertee Playgroup based in Derrylin is seeking a caring, enthusiastic and dedicated Preschool SEN Assistant to join our team on a temporary basis from September 2026 until June 2027.
This rewarding role involves providing individualised support for a child with Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them to access learning opportunities, develop social skills and thrive within our nurturing and inclusive preschool environment.
Hours of Work- Monday to Friday- 8:30am – 3:15pm
Rate of Pay- Very competitive, dependent on qualifications and experience
Essential Requirements- Level 3 Early Years/Childcare qualification (or equivalent)- Previous experience supporting young children with additional needs in an educational setting- Knowledge and understanding of inclusive early years practice. Knowledge of minimum standards and the presence school curriculum.
Personal Qualities- Calm, patient and nurturing approach- Highly observant and responsive to children's individual needs- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and build positive relationships with families- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Key Responsibilities- Provide one-to-one and small-group support for children with additional needs- Assist in implementing individual support plans and targeted interventions- Encourage children's independence, confidence and participation in all aspects of preschool life- Observe, monitor and record children's progress, sharing information appropriately with the preschool team- Contribute to a safe, stimulating and inclusive learning environmentThis is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic early years practitioner who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping every child achieve their full potential.
