About the role
At Polaris we work differently, we are an innovative children's residential and supported accommodation service for care leavers aged 18 and over. We are looking for a passionate experienced Manager to lead the site, who thrives off working in and leading a team.
Managers will be operationally accountable for everything that happens at the site, Polaris standard of practice, the support of young people, the performance of the staff team and the day-to-day relationship with the local authorities leaving-care operational teams. You will also be Polaris's Designated Safeguarding Lead for the service.
What you'll do
- Lead the day-to-day operation for a supported accommodation site.
- Take the lead on referrals for placements, in collaboration with our clinical team.
- Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead - the first point of accountability for safety.
- Line-manage a team of support staff - recruitment, supervision, development.
- Own the operational relationship with local authority leaving-care and Personal Advisor teams.
- Ensure compliance with the operational policy suite and quality standards.
- Provide on-call cover.
What we're looking for
- Significant leadership experience in supported accommodation, residential care, or leaving-care services.
- Experience leading registration processes with Ofsted and preparing for inspections.
- Experience acting as a Designated Safeguarding Lead or in an equivalent safeguarding-accountable role.
- Confident in trauma-aware and attachment-informed practice.
- A track record of line-managing teams.
- Strong partnership skills; comfortable working alongside local authorities, health and clinical partners.
- Managers who can be innovative and have a deep desire to see young people thrive.
- Enhanced DBS clearance.
Required
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare.
- Prior experience as a Responsible Individual or Registered Manager (2 Years)
- DSL experience.
