Job Summary
We are looking for a caring, passionate, and reliable Bank Chef to join our friendly kitchen team within our nursing home. This role is to provide cover for sickness and annual leave when required, helping us continue to deliver high-quality, home-cooked meals to our residents.
The successful candidate will understand the important role that good nutrition and mealtimes play in the wellbeing and happiness of our residents. You will take pride in preparing nutritious, delicious meals while creating a warm and positive dining experience for those in our care.
As a Bank Chef, you will work closely with the care staff and kitchen team to ensure meals are prepared to a high standard, dietary requirements are met, and the kitchen remains a safe and clean working environment.
Duties
- Prepare and cook nutritious, high-quality meals in line with daily menus and residents’ dietary needs.
- Support and guide kitchen staff to ensure smooth day-to-day running of the kitchen.
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and organisation within the kitchen.
- Ensure all Health & Safety, COSHH, Food Safety, and Infection Control procedures are followed at all times.
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages to management.
- Assist in ensuring meals are served on time and presented with care and attention.
- Work collaboratively with the wider care home team to support residents’ wellbeing and dining experience.
Qualifications & Skills
- Previous experience as a Chef or Cook within a care/nursing home, or similar environment is preferred.
- A good understanding of nutrition, special dietary requirements, and food safety standards.
- A caring, patient, and compassionate approach to your work.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work calmly in a busy environment.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Flexibility to cover shifts at short notice when required.
- Able to drive as cover will occasionally be required at our sister nursing home in Seaford.
