Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter/Restaurant Cleaner to join our dynamic hospitality team. This role involves maintaining the cleanliness and organisation of our kitchen and dining areas, ensuring a hygienic environment for both staff and guests. The ideal candidate will be reliable, efficient, and enthusiastic about supporting the smooth operation of our restaurant. Previous experience in food service or hospitality is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience within the hospitality industry and develop culinary and organisational skills.
Responsibilities
- Washing, drying, and storing kitchen utensils, crockery, and cookware to ensure they are ready for use
- Assisting with basic food preparation tasks under supervision, including peeling, chopping, and garnishing
- Maintaining cleanliness of all kitchen surfaces, floors, and equipment in accordance with health and safety standards
- Supporting the serving staff by clearing tables and assisting with setting up dining areas
- Ensuring waste is disposed of correctly and recycling procedures are followed
- Restocking supplies as needed to ensure smooth kitchen operations
- Adhering to all food hygiene regulations and health & safety protocols at all times
Requirements
- Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, or hospitality environment is preferred but not mandatory
- Knowledge of food preparation, cooking, or culinary practices is a plus
- Strong organisational skills with an eye for detail
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of cleanliness
- Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
- Flexibility to work shifts including weekends and evenings if required
- Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to various roles within the kitchen environment
