Salary: £50,793.68 – £57,528.97, inclusive of shift allowance, DOE
An established manufacturing organisation in Northumberland is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join its Engineering team. This is a site‑based, hands‑on role focused on maintaining and improving electrical systems that support a high‑performance manufacturing operation.
The successful candidate will provide electrical engineering support to ensure production equipment, facilities, and services are maintained to a high standard. Working closely with engineering, production, and project teams, the role plays a key part in equipment reliability, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Carry out routine and preventative maintenance on production equipment

Diagnose and repair electrical faults on manufacturing machinery and support equipment

Perform calibration, validation, and corrective adjustments on devices such as load cells and temperature controllers

Provide engineering support to production to improve machine output and resolve process issues

Assist with the installation and commissioning of new equipment

Work alongside the on‑site project team to develop new or improved electrical control systems

Maintain accurate maintenance records using a CMMS

Ensure full compliance with health & safety regulations and site procedures (including LOTO, permits to work, risk assessments, and ATEX requirements)

Support and mentor junior technicians and apprentices where required
- Proven experience fault‑finding and troubleshooting Siemens PLC systems

Familiarity with AC/DC drives (Siemens and ABB preferred)

Working knowledge of tension control systems

Experience with industrial bus systems such as Profibus and Profinet

Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and drawings

Solid understanding of industrial electrical systems and best practices
- Completed apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline

HNC (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering

Knowledge of current electrical installation standards (desirable but not essential)

Knowledge of ATEX zoning and hazardous environments (desirable but not essential)
- Strong problem‑solving skills with excellent attention to detail

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team

Confident communicator, capable of explaining technical issues clearly
