Make a Difference Where It Matters Most
At Solice Care, we create safe, structured and therapeutic homes where children and young people can begin to heal, build trust and move towards brighter futures. We are looking for a compassionate and resilient Therapeutic Care Practitioner to join our team and help deliver the stability, care and encouragement that can change lives.
This is more than a care role. It is an opportunity to build meaningful relationships, support young people through complex life experiences, and be part of a trauma-informed team that believes behaviour is communication and that healing happens through connection, consistency and compassion.
Why Join Solice Care?
You will join a values-led organisation focused on creating positive outcomes for children and young people through residential care, therapeutic support and close partnership working with education, health and care professionals. Solice Care highlights ongoing investment in its people, comprehensive induction and mandatory training, and opportunities to grow as the organisation expands.
- A rewarding role where your support can have a lasting impact on a young person’s life.
- A therapeutic, child-centred environment built on empathy, consistency and professional curiosity.
- Training, supervision and development opportunities to help you build a long-term career in residential childcare.
- The chance to be part of a growing organisation committed to improving outcomes for children and young people.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Therapeutic Care Practitioner, you will provide high-quality care and therapeutic support to children and young people living in our residential homes. You will help create a safe, nurturing and predictable environment, build trusting relationships, support emotional regulation, and encourage each young person to develop confidence, resilience and independence.
In This Role, You Will:
- Build warm, consistent and respectful relationships with children and young people.
- Support daily routines, education, health appointments, family time and independence skills.
- Use trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches to respond to behaviours with empathy and understanding.
- Contribute to care planning, safeguarding, recording and multi-agency working.
- Help maintain a home that feels safe, welcoming and supportive.
- Use the ClearCare IT system.
- Administer medication in line with policies and procedures.
- Be required to complete the Level 4 Residential Childcare Apprenticeship, where applicable.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking a candidate with relevant experience of supporting children and young people in residential or closely related settings, including those who may present with complex needs, challenging behaviours and heightened risks. The successful candidate will demonstrate a consistent commitment to safeguarding, professional boundaries, therapeutic practice and positive behaviour support, together with the resilience and judgement required to work effectively in a regulated care environment.
Essential Criteria
- Relevant experience of working with children and young people in residential childcare, supported accommodation, education, youth work or a related care setting.
- Demonstrable experience of supporting children and young people who may present with challenging behaviours, complex emotional needs and heightened risks.
- Knowledge of and experience working with children subject to DOLO arrangements and those presenting with HSB.
- Ability to build positive, trusting and professional relationships with children, colleagues and partner agencies.
- Emotional resilience and the ability to remain calm, consistent and professionally curious in challenging situations.
- Sound understanding of safeguarding responsibilities, professional boundaries, risk assessment and risk management in residential care.
- Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays where required.
- Willingness to complete mandatory training and work in line with therapeutic, trauma-informed and safer recruitment practices.
- A full UK driving licence, where travel or transport responsibilities are part of the role
Desirable Criteria
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practice, attachment-aware approaches or therapeutic care models.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to maintain accurate, timely and factual records.
- A relevant qualification in childcare, health and social care, or willingness to work towards one.
