On behalf of a specialist SEN secondary school in Emsworth, we are currently seeking passionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistants (LSAs).
The school provides secondary education for pupils with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) for Special Educational Needs within the moderate learning difficulties range. This includes supporting pupils with speech and language difficulties, social communication difficulties, and autism.
This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people with additional needs and helping them thrive both academically and personally.
The Role
As an LSA, you will:
- Support students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
- Assist teachers in delivering tailored and engaging lessons
- Help students develop communication, social, and emotional skills
- Encourage positive behaviour and independence
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and pastoral teams
- Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
Requirements
We are looking for candidates who:
- Have experience working with children
- Have experience working with children or young people with SEN (preferred but not essential)
- Understand autism, speech and language needs, and social communication difficulties
- Are patient, empathetic, resilient, and proactive
- Have strong communication and teamwork skills
- Are passionate about making a positive difference in young people’s lives
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
