Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate One to One Teaching Assistant to support children with special educational needs within a school environment. The successful candidate will work closely with individual students, providing personalised assistance to help them access the curriculum and develop essential skills. Duties
- Provide personalised support to students with special educational needs, including those with autism and disabilities
- Assist children with daily activities, including toddler care where applicable
- Implement tailored learning programmes under the guidance of teachers or specialists
- Support behavioural management strategies to promote positive behaviour and engagement
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment for all students
- Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and other professionals regarding student progress and needs
- Support students during classroom activities, breaks, and specialised therapy sessions
- Encourage social interaction and development of communication skills among students
- Assist in preparing learning materials and adapting resources to meet individual student requirements
Experience
- Prior experience working with children in educational or care settings is highly desirable
- Experience working with individuals with autism or other disabilities is advantageous
- Knowledge of special education practices and behavioural management techniques is preferred
- Experience caring for toddlers or young children will be considered an asset
- Strong communication skills are essential for effective collaboration with colleagues, students, and families
- Demonstrated patience, empathy, and organisational skills are vital for success in this role
