Children's Support Worker – Relocate to Guernsey

Sanctuary Personnel is seeking compassionate and dedicated Children's Support Workers to join a specialist Short Breaks Service in Guernsey.
This is a fantastic opportunity for support workers looking to gain valuable experience while enjoying a unique island lifestyle. The role involves temporarily relocating to Guernsey, with accommodation support and travel expenses provided.
You will support children and young people with learning disabilities, additional needs, complex behaviours, and health conditions within a specialist short breaks service. Support is delivered within a residential setting, the local community, and family homes, helping children access meaningful experiences while promoting independence, wellbeing, and quality of life.
We are particularly interested in candidates with experience supporting children with additional needs, challenging behaviours, and epilepsy.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality care and support to children and young people with learning disabilities and additional needs.
- Support children in residential, community, and family home settings.
- Assist with personal care, mobility, medication administration, and daily living activities.
- Promote independence, confidence, and social inclusion.
- Support children to access community activities, outings, and recreational opportunities.
- Follow individual care plans, communication plans, and behavioural support strategies.
- Work collaboratively with families, healthcare professionals, education providers, and other agencies.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with safeguarding and regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to creating a safe, nurturing, and homely environment.
- Support children's health, wellbeing, education, and personal development goals.
Requirements
- Experience working with children with additional needs, learning disabilities, challenging behaviours, or complex care needs.
- Experience supporting children with epilepsy is highly desirable.
- Strong communication, empathy, patience, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to remain calm and resilient in challenging situations.
- A child-centred approach and commitment to delivering high-quality care.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Good literacy, numeracy, and IT skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Access to your own vehicle and willingness to use it for work purposes.
- Business-use vehicle insurance.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, overnight shifts, and bank holidays as required.
