Are you an experienced and passionate chef looking for a rewarding opportunity where your skills can make a genuine difference? We are seeking two dedicated Head Chefs to lead our kitchen teams at Connaught House Specialist Care Centre in Solihull and Asprey Court Care Home in Erdington.
As a Head Chef, you will play an important role in supporting the health and wellbeing of our residents by preparing nutritious, high-quality meals within a safe, welcoming, and person-centred care environment. You will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the kitchen, ensuring excellent standards of food quality, hygiene, safety, and presentation are maintained while operating within agreed budgets.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and prepare varied, nutritious, and well-balanced menus tailored to residents’ individual dietary needs and preferences
- Lead, organise, and support the kitchen team, including preparing staff rotas to maintain appropriate staffing levels
- Ensure the safe handling, storage, and preparation of food, including the correct use of equipment, cleaning materials, and adherence to COSHH procedures
- Maintain full compliance with Food Hygiene, Health & Safety, and Environmental Health regulations
- Manage stock levels, complete regular stock checks, and order catering supplies from approved suppliers within agreed budgets
- Ensure all food stock is correctly rotated and stored
- Implement and maintain effective kitchen cleaning schedules and high standards of cleanliness
- Monitor and record food and storage temperatures in line with regulatory requirements
- Support Environmental Health inspections and maintain a kitchen that is always inspection-ready
- Assist with staff inductions, supervision, training, and ongoing development
What We’re Looking For
- NVQ Level 3 in Catering or an equivalent qualification
- Previous experience in a Head Chef, Sous Chef, or supervisory kitchen position
- Strong knowledge of Food Hygiene Regulations, COSHH, and Health & Safety procedures
- Experience working with commercial kitchen equipment
- Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills
- The ability to work effectively under pressure while managing budgets and maintaining high standards
- A genuine passion for delivering enjoyable, nutritious meals that enhance residents’ quality of life

Salary: £14.30 – £15.00 per hour (depending on experience)
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week
Working Pattern: Weekend availability is essential
