Pay Rate: £16.03 per hour

The Role
Based at either Leeds depot or Bradford depot, this role is essential to supporting efficient waste management operations and ensuring high environmental and safety standards are maintained.
You will be responsible for the safe and compliant operation of Class 1 HGV vehicles, supporting collections, transportation, and delivery of waste materials across designated routes.
Working Hours
- Day Shift: Monday to Friday, 6:00am
- Saturday shifts on a rotational basis (nights optional)
- 50-hour contract (including 1-hour unpaid break per shift)
- Overtime available after 45 hours per week
Pay & Overtime
- £16.03 per hour
- Overtime rates:
- Monday–Friday: 1.3x hourly rate
- Saturday: 1.5x hourly rate
- Bank Holidays: 2x hourly rate
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate Class 1 HGV vehicles for waste collection and transport
- Plan and follow efficient routes to maximise productivity and reduce environmental impact
- Complete daily vehicle checks and report defects
- Maintain accurate digital records of deliveries, collections, and vehicle activity
- Comply with all transport legislation including drivers’ hours and Working Time Directive
- Provide professional customer service at all sites
Essential Requirements
- Valid UK HGV Class 1 licence
- Driver CPC qualification
- Digital tachograph card
- Minimum 2 years’ Class 1 driving experience (waste sector preferred)
- Strong understanding of vehicle safety and compliance
- Good communication and customer service skills
