Job role: Project Manager
Location: Edinburgh Hybrid (3 office days)
Department: Project Management (Development)
Reports to: Senior Project Manager
We do big things with a small (but growing) team
At Apatura, we develop projects that power clean energy and a thriving digital world – from battery storage to data centres. It’s complex, high impact work, delivered by a small, highly capable team who move quickly and care deeply about doing things well.
We’re driven by bold ideas, a strong sense of purpose and a willingness to challenge how things are usually done. As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a proactive Project Manager to assist the progression of Apatura’s battery energy storage system (BESS) portfolio from opportunity assessment through to Financial Investment Decision (FID).
With a growing pipeline of projects and clear plans to expand the business, this role offers the chance to play a key part in supporting Apatura’s next stage of growth.
About the role
You’ll play a central role in moving projects forward, coordinating across teams and stakeholders to ensure they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the right quality and safety standards.
What you’ll do
- Manage projects from early site assessment through to consent and readiness for construction
- Coordinate feasibility work, including site selection, design, and cable routes
- Support securing land rights and engaging with landowners and stakeholders
- Lead on planning application processes and manage supporting documentation
- Work with internal teams and external partners to deliver design and technical outputs
- Track project progress, timelines, and costs, ensuring projects stay on plan
- Manage suppliers and consultants to ensure quality and timely delivery
- Support financial planning, forecasting, and procurement activities
- Manage technical due diligence, preparing for financial close
- Lead project meetings, track actions, and provide regular progress updates
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for a proactive and collaborative Project Manager who can confidently drive projects forward while working across a wide range of stakeholders.
You’ll bring:
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
- A structured approach to project delivery, including planning, scheduling, and tracking progress
- The ability to manage multiple priorities, solve problems, and adapt as challenges arise
- Experience managing costs, budgets, and project risks to keep delivery on track
- Confidence in working with internal teams and external partners to achieve high‑quality outcomes
Experience and knowledge:
- Previous experience in project management, ideally within infrastructure, construction, or the energy sector
- An understanding of project management methodologies and best practice
- Knowledge of the UK electricity sector (e.g. Ofgem, NESO, DNOs/TOs) is beneficial but not essential
Qualifications:
- Project management qualification (e.g. APM) is preferred
- Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Engineering, Project Management) is advantageous, but not essential
What we offer
- Private medical care with Bupa (household included)
- Enhanced pension scheme
- 30 days’ annual leave including Bank Holidays to start, increasing with length of service, plus additional leave over the Christmas period
- EV salary sacrifice scheme + cycle-to-work scheme
- Access to free, confidential counselling and other wellbeing resources through our Employee Assistance Programme
- Life assurance scheme at 6x salary
