Lincoln Clinical Engineering has a vacancy for a Safety Inspection Technician.
This post involves working as part of a team providing a clinical support service that includes the servicing, calibration and repair of electronic medical devices.
The department is modern, friendly and utilises state of the art equipment, offering an excellent working environment. The post is based at Lincoln County Hospital though work on other ULHT sites is required as part of the role, as priorities demand.
Clinical Engineering operates as a business, recharging parts to our internal customers and parts and labour to our external customers.
The post-holder primarily works in clinical areas, normally unsupervised but with access to technical/managerial advice and support by telephone or by returning to department.
The post-holder contributes to the equipment support service by providing a careful visual and functional inspection of medical equipment.
The post-holder completes an appropriate electrical safety test following inspection of the mains supply cable, connections, plug and fuse.
The post-holder identifies and resolves basic medical equipment accessory faults (and parts close to failure) on equipment e.g. failing Non-invasive Blood Pressure (NIBP) hoses/cuffs.
The post-holder commissions/calibrates a limited range of medical equipment unsupervised in defined circumstances e.g. ear syringe pumps, tympanic ear thermometers and sphygmomanometers.
Clinical Engineering has three teams working from each of ULHT's main sites, Lincoln County Hospital, Pilgrim Hospital Boston and Grantham & District Hospital.

Lincoln Hospital is a thriving university city and with the opening of the medical school, it provides all major specialties and a 24-hour major accident and emergency service.
United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust has been granted teaching hospital status, after demonstrating evidence to significant teaching commitment. From now on it will be known as United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
Pilgrim Hospital is situated in beautiful countryside and serves the communities in the South Lincolnshire area. It provides all major specialties and a 24-hour major accident and emergency service.
Grantham and District Hospital serves the communities of Grantham and the local area. It provides ambulatory paediatric and accident and emergency services.
Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) and United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust (ULHT) have come together in a Group arrangement, with the goal of improving the care provided to patients across the county.
This will not constitute a formal merger of the two organisations, but will bring the Trusts together under a single Board and Executive Leadership Team, with the goal of improving the care that is provided to patients both in the community and in hospitals across Lincolnshire. Both Trusts will retain their separate statutory names and legal obligations.
The Group will be known as Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals NHS Group (LCHG).
