Legal Secretary - Employment Team (Hybrid)
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Legal Secretary to join a busy and supportive Employment Law team at a well-established law firm based in Reading.
This is a full-time position supporting a team of legal professionals with a broad range of secretarial and administrative duties. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the department while delivering a high standard of service to colleagues and clients alike. Office attendance is required two days per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing and amending legal documents, correspondence and reports with a high degree of accuracy.
- Providing comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to fee earners across the department.
- Managing diaries, scheduling meetings and coordinating appointments.
- Maintaining important deadlines and updating key dates where required.
- Handling telephone and email enquiries professionally and efficiently.
- Proofreading and formatting documents and presentations.
- Assisting with billing processes, time recording and invoice preparation.
- Liaising with clients regarding accounts queries and outstanding matters.
- Producing spreadsheets and supporting financial administration, including disbursement tracking and supplier payments.
- General filing and administrative support to ensure the efficient operation of the team.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- At least two years' experience in a legal secretarial or administrative position.
- Previous experience working within a law firm or professional services environment.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A proactive approach and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
- High levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Confidence using Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience dealing with client accounts or billing queries.
- Experience supporting an Employment team or using legal case management software would be advantageous but is not essential.
