Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head Chef for our 160 bedded care home.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive culinary expertise, and a commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences. As Head Chef, you will oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, from food preparation and safety to team management and menu development. This role offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your creativity and organisational skills within a dynamic hospitality environment.
You will need to know Iddsi knowledge to provide food to residents with modified diets.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the kitchen team, ensuring high standards of food quality and service
- Develop innovative menus in line with current trends and customer preferences
- Oversee food production, ensuring consistency in taste, presentation, and portion control
- Manage food safety protocols, including hygiene standards and allergen management
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely procurement of ingredients and kitchen supplies
- Monitor inventory levels and control food costs effectively
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, fostering a positive team environment
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area in compliance with health regulations
- Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery
- Ensure all food served meets the restaurant’s quality standards and customer expectations
Skills
- Proven supervising experience within a professional kitchen setting
- Extensive food production and culinary experience, including food preparation and cooking techniques
- Strong team management skills with the ability to motivate staff and delegate tasks effectively
- Excellent knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene management
- Experience in menu development, recipe creation, and cost control measures
- Exceptional leadership qualities with the ability to organise multiple priorities under pressure
- Good understanding of hospitality operations, including serving standards and customer service excellence
- Effective communication skills to liaise with staff, suppliers, and management teams
- Previous restaurant experience demonstrating versatility across various cuisines is highly desirable
Pay: £38,000.00-£42,000.00 per year
