Focused Recruitment are currently seeking a Skilled TIG Welder with Orbital TIG Welding experience to join our clients manufacturing facility based within the Cwmbran area.
The successful candidate will ideally have experience within the high-precision fabrication manufacturing sectors. You'd need to be comfortable working with stainless steel, aluminium, and other technical alloys, and ideally have experience with orbital welding in a controlled, regulated environment
Hours of work include:
Monday - Thursday 07:00am - 15:00pm, Fridays 07:00am - 13:00pm.
This could change in the future and move to a mornings & afternoons rotating shift pattern Monday - Friday. Rates of pay would include £21.91PH for morning shift & £23.54PH for afternoon shift.
Duties of the role include:
- Fabricate, modify, and assemble prototype automotive components and assemblies
- Perform high-quality TIG welding on a variety of materials including steel, aluminium, and stainless steel
- Carry out orbital welding operations where required, ensuring precision, consistency, and compliance with technical specifications
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and technical specifications
- Carry out mechanical fitting, assembly, and adjustment of prototype parts
- Support prototype vehicle builds, trial fits, and development testing
- Diagnose and resolve build or fitment issues, suggesting practical improvements
- Use workshop tools and machinery safely, including hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment
- Maintain accurate build records and follow quality and safety procedures
- Collaborate closely with engineers, designers, and other technicians
Desired criteria:
- Proficient in TIG stainless steel tube welding using orbital and manual equipment.
- Orbital welding experience preferred, or willingness to develop within the role
- An Apprenticeship, HNC or equivalent qualification in a technical subject would be an advantage
- Experience of reading engineered drawings & diagrams
- Ability to work from technical drawings and CAD data with minimal supervision
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
