Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated, organised, and patient-focused Qualified Dental Nurse who will also undertake the role of Treatment Coordinator (TCO). This dual role is responsible for providing high-quality chairside nursing support while guiding patients through their treatment journey, ensuring an exceptional patient experience from consultation through to completion of treatment.
The successful candidate will be GDC registered, possess excellent communication skills, and be passionate about delivering outstanding patient care while supporting the clinical and administrative functions of the practice.
Key ResponsibilitiesDental Nursing Duties
- Provide chairside assistance to dentists and hygienists during a wide range of dental procedures.
- Prepare, clean, and maintain treatment rooms before and after each patient.
- Ensure all instruments are sterilised and decontaminated in accordance with HTM 01-05 guidelines.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and update patient notes as directed by the clinician.
- Assist with taking radiographs (where appropriately qualified).
- Monitor stock levels and order dental materials when required.
- Ensure compliance with CQC, GDC, GDPR, infection control, and health and safety regulations.
- Support the clinical team to ensure efficient daily workflow.
- Deliver excellent patient care, reassurance, and support throughout appointments.
Treatment Coordinator (TCO) Duties
- Welcome patients attending consultations and provide a professional, friendly experience.
- Build strong relationships with patients and act as their primary point of contact throughout their treatment journey.
- Explain treatment plans, procedures, options, and associated costs clearly and confidently.
- Present finance options and assist patients with payment plans where applicable.
- Coordinate appointments to ensure efficient scheduling of treatment.
- Follow up with patients after consultations to answer questions and encourage treatment acceptance.
- Monitor treatment conversions and maintain accurate records of consultations and outcomes.
- Liaise closely with clinicians and reception to ensure seamless communication.
- Support the promotion of private and cosmetic dental treatments.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
Person SpecificationEssential
- GDC Registered Qualified Dental Nurse.
- National Diploma in Dental Nursing (or equivalent recognised qualification).
- Previous experience working within a dental practice.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Outstanding organisational and time management skills.
- Confident discussing treatment plans and fees with patients.
- Professional, caring, and approachable manner.
- Strong IT skills and experience using dental practice management software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable
- Previous experience as a Treatment Coordinator.
- Knowledge of cosmetic, orthodontic, implant, or restorative dentistry.
- Radiography qualification.
- Oral Health Education qualification.
- Experience with private dentistry and finance providers.
