Care Assistant (Days) Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Care Assistant to join our team on day shifts at our care home. This role involves providing high-quality care and support to residents, promoting their independence, dignity, comfort, and overall wellbeing.
The successful candidate will work as part of a supportive care team, delivering person-centred care to residents with a variety of needs while ensuring a safe and caring environment at all times.

Shift Pattern:
8:00am – 8:00pm
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist residents with daily living activities including washing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility
- Provide personal care while maintaining residents’ dignity, privacy, and individual preferences
- Support residents with eating and drinking where required
- Promote residents’ independence and encourage participation in daily activities
- Provide companionship and emotional reassurance to support mental wellbeing
- Observe and report any changes in residents’ physical or emotional condition to senior staff
- Maintain accurate care records and documentation
- Follow care plans and risk assessments appropriately
- Support residents to move safely using appropriate equipment and techniques
- Assist with medication reminders and basic monitoring under supervision
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, infection prevention, and health & safety
- Communicate effectively with residents, relatives, colleagues, and healthcare professionals
- Work collaboratively as part of the wider care team to ensure high standards of care are maintained
Experience and Skills
- Previous experience within a care home or home care setting is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided
- Caring, compassionate, and patient nature
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Basic IT skills for electronic documentation and care records
- Good understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding principles
- Driving licence preferred but not essential
- Good level of spoken and written English
