We are looking for an Automation Test Analyst to join our team. You'll be on a permanent, full time basis, working 36 hours per week.

This is a great opportunity for an for an Automation Test Analyst professional to join the English Heritage Technology Services (IT) team. Our vision and aim is to ensure our organisation is able to drive forward its corporate strategy by becoming a trusted partner for all technology needs, delivering end to end solutions that add tangible value and benefit to our internal customers and ultimately improve engagement with our visitors and members to enhance their overall experience of English Heritage.
As an Automation Test Analyst, you will build automation frameworks in C# using Playwright, convert requirements into automation test scripts, execute scripts, and report on the results.
You will provide authoritative input into test and defect prioritisation, ensuring decisions balance business impact, risk and delivery constraints. Coordinate complex defect triage activities across internal teams and external suppliers, ensuring timely and high-quality resolution
To be considered as an Automation Test Analyst you'll need:
- Proven experience testing complex programmes/projects across multiple systems and integrations, including clear evidence of structured planning and delivery.
- Hands-on experience designing, implementing and maintaining automated tests (for example smoke/regression suites) using appropriate tools and frameworks (e.g., Playwright, Selenium or Cypress).
- Strong experience testing APIs and integrations (e.g., using Postman or similar), including validating data flows end-to-end and diagnosing issues across system boundaries.
- Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and build/release processes, including running automated tests within pipelines and interpreting results to support release decisions.
- Extensive past knowledge in managing test environments and test data (including use of test accounts, data setup, and coordinating dependencies) to enable reliable and repeatable test execution.
- Experience using test management and defect tracking tools (e.g., Azure DevOps), including maintaining traceability and providing clear, evidence-based test reporting.
First Stage Interviews will be held in the week commencing 13th July on MS Teams, with face-to-face interviews in Swindon for the second stage.
