We have a great opportunity for an LV Jointers Mate to join our cable connection team to support our long term street lighting maintenance contract covering Kent. This position is based from our Sittingbourne office.
Key activities
- To carry out Site Specific Risk Assessment prior to any site activities electronically on Tablet provided
- To set up site in accordance with chapter 8 of NRSWA street works code of practice
- To fulfil Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental (HSQE) responsibilities by adherence to the requirements of the Company's HSQE Policies and HSQE Management Plans
- To comply with the Company’s Policies, Management Plans, Procedures and to work alongside the companies distribution safety rules
- To ensure that all materials are transported to and from site in a safe and secure manner without damage and disposed of correctly where applicable
- To install ducting systems to DNO specifications
- To install cable to DNO specifications
- To prepare and commence with their work activities and assist with the duties of a jointers mate whilst the jointer is carrying out cable jointing tasks as per the adopting utilities requirements
- To ensure that whilst carrying out works in a live environment that they are working in a manner that complies with companies Operational Procedures and distribution safety rules. Also ensure the adopting utilities jointers mates responsibilities methods of working are being adhered to at all times
- To liaise with the DNO control centre during operations as and when required and report any near misses and hazards using the Equans AIMS hotline along with adopting utilities reporting procedures
- To ensure that a safe working environment is maintained at all times
- To ensure that the full co-operation and best customer relations are maintained at all times specifically on site
- To make full use of all personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to flame retardant coveralls, hard hat with chin strap, task gloves, goggles, ear defenders and boots at all appropriate times.
- To ensure that the authorised Persons task instructions that are issued electronically are complied with at all times.
- To assist with the completion of the task sheet on the tablet for each and every job, alongside assisting with as build drawings and energisation/disconnection sheets where applicable
- To ensure the security of company information and property
- To minimise third party claims i.e. Public Liability and customer complaints
Skills, qualifications & experience
- Basic health and safety knowledge
- Manually handling
- Experience working on electrical infrastructure projects, with a focus on high voltage systems (not required to be electrically biased).
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
