SEN Teaching Assistant – September Start | Bournemouth & Poole
Looking for a role where every day matters?
The Supply Room is recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants to join specialist primary and secondary schools supporting children and young people aged 3–19 with:
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs inc. Autism and ADHD
- Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD)
- Specific Learning Difficulties (SLD)
- Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
These are full-time, long-term positions within one school setting, giving you the opportunity to build meaningful relationships and become a valued part of the school community.
We work with a range of SEN schools across Bournemouth and Poole, and for candidates with the right experience, there may be opportunities to meet with more than one school before deciding which setting feels like the best fit. We take the time to understand your skills, experience and preferences, allowing us to match you with a school where you can thrive and make the biggest impact.
Please note: We are only looking to hear from candidates who have experience working with children or young people, particularly those with learning disabilities, additional needs, or complex mental health needs.
This experience could come from supporting children or young people in roles such as support work, children's residential care, youth work, mental health services, childcare, sports coaching, tutoring, mentoring, or through an Education or Psychology background.
What you'll be doing:
- Supporting students 1:1 and in small groups
- Helping young people regulate emotions and build confidence
- Encouraging independence and positive routines
- Working alongside teachers to create a safe, engaging learning environment
- Celebrating every achievement, big or small
Key Details:
- Monday-Friday
- Approx. 8:30am-3:30pm (dependant on each school)
- Long-term placements
- Temp-to-perm and fixed-term opportunities available
- September 2026 starts
Some schools may invite successful candidates to spend a few days with them before the summer holidays, giving you the chance to meet the children you'll be supporting and get to know the team before September.
If you're caring, resilient, reliable and passionate about helping young people thrive, we'd love to hear from you.
