We are looking for an experienced and highly organised Bookkeeper to take ownership of our financial systems and help bring structure, visibility and control across multiple companies and live projects.
This is a key role working directly with the directors, with genuine opportunity to grow as the business expands.
The Role
We are looking for someone confident managing finance across multiple entities, maintaining accurate records, producing clear reporting and supporting live project cost control.
The initial focus of the role will be:
- Xero management across multiple companies
- Bookkeeping and reconciliations
- Management accounts support
- Cashflow and cost tracking
- Development/job costing
- VAT and CIS administration
- Financial organisation and process improvement
Key Responsibilities
Finance & Bookkeeping
- Full ownership of Xero across multiple entities
- Weekly bank reconciliations and transaction coding
- Supplier invoice processing and payment tracking
- Maintaining accurate financial records
- Preparing clean year-end information for accountants
- Assisting with management accounts and reporting
- Cashflow tracking and forecasting
Construction & Development Cost Tracking
- Maintaining live project cost trackers
- Tracking labour, subcontractor and material spend
- Monitoring budgets versus actual costs
- Identifying overspends and commercial risks early
- Supporting valuations and client invoicing
- Working alongside directors to improve visibility on project margins
VAT & CIS
- VAT return preparation
- CIS tracking and subcontractor administration
- Ensuring compliance and correct treatment across projects
Property Portfolio Administration
- Tracking rental income and property-related costs
- Organising tenancy and compliance records
- Assisting with HMO administration and recurring property costs
Systems & Organisation
- Helping improve internal systems and reporting
- Supporting SharePoint and cloud-based document organisation
- Assisting with implementation of structured financial and operational processes
Essential Requirements
- Strong Xero experience (essential)
- Strong bookkeeping experience
- Experience preparing management accounts
- Excellent Excel / spreadsheet skills
- Experience with multiple companies/entities
- Good understanding of VAT and CIS
- Experience within property, construction or development
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Comfortable working directly with business owners
- Able to take ownership and improve systems
Desirable
- Construction job costing experience
- Property development experience
- Experience with project management systems
- AAT qualified or similar
