What you’ll be doing:
Are you passionate about championing the voice of residents? Do you want to be part of a major project enabling change in two areas of Slough?
We are looking for an experienced and community-driven engagement officer to be part of Slough Borough Council’s managing and implementation of the Government’s Pride in Place funding programme to enable extensive and incredible change to the lives of our residents living in the Britwell and Foxborough areas.
The Pride in Place Programme is a £20m investment (over ten years) in Slough neighbourhoods Britwell and Langley Foxborough respectively - led by local residents and partners and overseen by Neighbourhood Boards. As the accountable body for the funding programme, Slough Borough Council requires an experienced engagement officer to work with the Pride in Place Project Manager and Neighbourhood Boards to produce the Engagement Plan and support delivery, ensuring effective community engagement, and best practice for consultation and engagement activity.
You will be making sure residents have a voice and partners are included in the programme. The role requires a high level of independent working and decision-making skills, as well as highly developed communications skills to build effective relationships with a range of key stakeholders.
This is a vital role for the delivery of efficient and effective resident engagement and consultations connected to Pride in Place Britwell and Foxborough, to build capacity for residents to participate in the programme.
The officer works closely with the Pride in Place Programme Manager, the Strategic Partnerships Manager and the wider Resident Engagement and Communication team as well as colleagues across the council to map and advise on consultation and engagement activity connected to the project. This also involves working with a range of external partners to achieve results, often to tight deadlines and being responsible for decisions to further the council’s aims without referring to senior colleagues. This includes managing sensitive situations where there is reputational risk to the council.

Annual increments, where applicable, are usually payable on 1 April, subject to six months’ service and satisfactory performance, until the maximum spinal column point is reached.
