Single Variety Co is a family run luxury jam maker based in Warmley, Bristol. Every product in our core range is an award winner at the Great Taste Awards or Taste of the West Awards, and we are winners of the Bristol Life Best Retail Award.
We have an opening for a cleaning/production assistant to join our team. You'll be reporting into our Jam Factory Manager and working alongside our jam production team.
The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and organisation of our kitchen, ensuring a smooth and efficient operation. This role predominantly focuses on the production area ensuring equipment, drains, floors, walls etc are cleaned to a high standard but will also involve assisting the team with a substantial amount of food preparation and filling/lidding jam jars.
This is a demanding role requiring good physicality as well as remaining alert to details as the site is audited to specific standards.
A genuine enthusiasm for hygiene coupled with a positive attitude is essential.
The jobs key responsibilities involves:
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Floor cleaning, walls, drains, equipment, waste bins following cleaning schedules and recording where necessary.
- Adhering to colour coding of cleaning tools.
- Wear any required personal protective equipment (PPE) or site-specific clothing as directed.
- Use a variety of manual cleaning equipment and chemicals as directed.
- Disassemble and reassemble parts of the filling line/equipment
- Record all cleaning tasks as directed.
- Hand cutting or slicing large volumes of fresh ingredients.
- Flagging any issues with the equipment to management
- Assist in the warehouse after production/cleaning has been completed.
- This will involve packing, labelling and making boxes.
- A positive approach to work / positive attitude
- A desire to develop skills and progress within the business
- Ability to lift up to 25kg+
Experience
- Previous experience in a restaurant, hospitality or food production setting is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for suitable candidates.
- Familiarity with hygiene and or food preparation procedures is advantageous.
· This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience within the food production industry and develop foundational skills in food preparation and kitchen operations.
Everyone works a four day week here and this role is Tuesday to Friday 7.30am to 5.30pm. We are a Living Wage employer and pay £13.45 per hour.
