West Cornwall
Specialist Support Worker (Day & Night)
Job Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated day and night Support Workers to join two of our teams. For the first of these it is an occupational requirement that applicants are female in order to meet with the specific needs of the individual we support, outside of this character match is the most important consideration so we are keen to explore opportunities to work across teams to offer greater flexibility.
1. Ashton-Female only support-Days & Waking nights
We support an Autistic young lady who experiences mental health challenges, living in a brand new, purpose built annexe within the grounds of her family home. She is an ambulatory wheelchair user and does require some support with moving and handling. She enjoys music, anime, arts & crafts, attending local LGBTQ events, as well as theatre shows and concerts. She has recently left an extended period of inpatient stay, and has some exciting life goals that she requires support to achieve. It is important that her support staff like dogs, as she has her own service support dog. She is currently supported by 2 members of staff, 24 hours a day. Due to the rural location of the services, public transport is likely to be infrequent, therefore a driving licence is highly desirable.
A positive character match has been crucial for all team members; so a secondary interview step for all successful candidates to meet the young lady and family will be supported as part of the process.
2. Penzance-Days and Nights
We have an exciting project working with a young Autistic woman. She is in the early stages of settling into her own home for the first time and so needs a calm, but ambitious, team to support a development of her confidence at home and a return to a range of VERY active pursuits in the wider world (sea swimming, gym, marathon training. She experiences some periods of distress, so you will need to be a patient, grounded and emotionally resilient person who can respond with empathy and reassurance during more challenging moments. Due to the rural location of the services, public transport is likely to be infrequent, therefore a driving licence is highly desirable.
All posts these will be paid at £14.50 - £16.00 per hour dependant on passing probation period and dependant on whether shifts are days or nights
