Position: Tribunal and Complaints Officer

Working Hours: 35 hours per week
Pay Rate: PAYE: £302.78 per day
Job Responsibilities:
- Support schools, settings, services, and families in implementing the graduated approach to meeting Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
- Coordinate the statutory assessment process for children and young people with SEND across a designated group of schools and settings
- Manage the Education, Health and Care (EHC) planning process from assessment through to plan issuance, placement, and review
- Monitor and review progress of pupils with SEND against agreed outcomes
- Ensure all statutory timescales are met in relation to EHC needs assessments and plan production
- Provide advice, guidance, and support to SENCos, headteachers, and education settings to promote inclusive practice
- Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners including SENISS, Educational Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Children's Social Care, Adult Social Care, and Health services
- Facilitate and contribute to statutory and multi-agency review meetings, ensuring effective outcomes-focused planning
- Attend annual reviews for vulnerable pupils, including Looked After Children, those with Continuing Care needs, and pupils at risk of exclusion
- Ensure children, young people, and families are actively involved and central to all assessment, planning, and review processes
- Promote and support the inclusion of children and young people within maintained settings in Liverpool wherever possible
- Maintain accurate, timely, and high-quality case records and documentation using relevant IT systems
Requirements:
- Recent and relevant experience working within an educational or Children's Services setting, ideally as a SEND Casework Officer
- Strong working knowledge of the Children and Families Act 2014 and associated SEND legislation, including SEND Tribunal (SENDIST) regulations
- Proven experience of coordinating statutory assessments and managing the EHC planning process
- Experience of facilitating and chairing complex multi-agency review meetings
- Experience working in partnership with a range of professionals and agencies to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people
- Experience working effectively within team and multi-agency environments
- Experience working directly with parents and carers, demonstrating a person-centred approach
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage a range of stakeholders
- High level of IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ability to produce reports, presentations, and manage data effectively
- Ability to manage a complex caseload and meet statutory deadlines under pressure
- Commitment to inclusive practice and improving outcomes for children and young people with SEND
