Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) – LGBT+ Specialist (National Role)
Rate: £22 per hour (Umbrella)
Hours: 35 per week
Contract: Temporary – Immediate Start
Location: Fully Remote (monthly travel to London – all expenses covered)
Seven Resourcing is seeking an experienced Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) with strong knowledge of LGBT+ needs and experiences of discrimination to provide specialist advocacy and support to LGBT+ survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence.
This is a fully remote national role, with occasional travel to London for meetings, offering flexibility while delivering high-quality, trauma-informed support to high-risk clients.
Candidates with previous ISVA (Independent Sexual Violence Advisor) experience are also encouraged to apply if they have strong IDVA knowledge and domestic abuse case management experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist one-to-one advocacy and emotional support to LGBT+ survivors of domestic abuse and/or sexual violence
- Conduct risk assessments, safety planning, and ongoing case management for high-risk clients
- Support clients through the Criminal Justice System, including reporting, court processes, and multi-agency safeguarding pathways
- Liaise with MARAC, police, housing, health services, and other statutory and voluntary agencies
- Maintain accurate and timely case records in line with safeguarding and organisational requirements
- Advocate for clients to ensure access to housing, legal protection, and appropriate support services
- Contribute to service improvement and multi-agency working practices
Essential Requirements
- Must identify as part of the LGBT+ community
- Proven experience working as an Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) or equivalent domestic abuse advocacy role
- Strong understanding of domestic abuse, coercive control, safeguarding, and trauma-informed practice
- Experience supporting high-risk clients and working within MARAC processes
- Good knowledge of the Criminal Justice System and multi-agency working
- Ability to work independently in a fully remote role with occasional travel to London
Desirable Skills
- Previous ISVA experience (advantageous but not essential)
- Experience supporting survivors with complex needs
- Strong communication, advocacy, and inter-agency liaison skills
- Experience working with LGBT+ communities and understanding intersectional barriers
