Job Summary
Teaching Tomorrow are working with a good primary school in Aylesbury that are looking for a pre-school manager to start immediately.
This role is full-time and the school want experience within this setting, ideally holding a level 3 qualification in early years or childcare.
You will be working alongside a strong team and ensuring that pupils are receiving the best learning and development at such a vital stage of their childhood. This will be a rewarding role, with a great culture and ethos at the school making it a really enjoyable place to work.
Duties
- Be aware of the pre-school business plan and objectives.
- Have a clear understanding of the rationale behind the EYFS curriculum and child-initiated learning.
- Keep up to date with current good practice.
- Contribute to and implement all pre-school policies and procedures.
- Assist with drawing up curriculum planning to ensure that each child in the pre-school is working towards early learning outcomes and their needs are met.
- Provide a high quality of teaching, ensuring staff are properly deployed and offer appropriate support and stimulation to the children as they learn through their play.
- Liaise closely with parents/carers, exchanging information about children's progress and encouraging parents' involvement and ensure all children's needs are met.
- Implement systems of observation and record-keeping so that children's progress and attainment are regularly assessed.
- Meet with parents twice a year for parents' evenings with the support of the EYFS Leader.
- Contribute to annual written pupil reports to parents.
- Ensure records are properly maintained – registers, reports etc.
- Inform the EYFS Leader of any safeguarding concerns and report where necessary on Edukey; ensure the EYFS Leader is aware of any concerns about children's learning needs, or health & safety concerns.
- Be aware of all children with additional needs, including disadvantaged pupils, and ensure their needs are met.
- Keep all information completely confidential.
- Liaise with external agencies, including Ofsted, to ensure that best practice is in place.
- Line-manage any pre-school assistants and carry out their annual appraisals, identifying their training needs.
- Attend regular meetings with the whole EYFS team.
- Attend training and INSET as necessary.
- Attend network and transition meetings where necessary, or catch up on the information shared by the EYFS leader.
- Ensure the pre-school room is set up and cleared away as appropriate.
- Ensure pre-school is a safe environment for children, staff and others, that equipment is safe, standards of hygiene are high, and safety procedures are implemented.
- Assist the office staff with pre-school administration.
- Participate in appraisal with the EYFS Leader.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the EYFS Leader in accordance with the pre-school business plan and objectives.
- Support the meal time supervisor within the setting, whilst also taking a break of up to one hour.
