Job Summary
We are seeking experienced, compassionate and dedicated support workers to join our team. The ideal candidates will provide essential care and assistance to individuals in need, particularly in their own home and in the community. This role requires a strong commitment to client care, the ability to manage and support with challenging behaviour and autism and a willingness to drive to various locations as needed. Please be advised that applications will only be considered from candidates residing within Gloucestershire. We are not recruiting from outside the county at this time. Due to the nature of the role and the potential for last-minute rota changes, it is essential that staff are based locally to ensure availability for on-site duties and effective contribution to our operations.
Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities for a support worker are unique and varied as the people we support all have their own unique needs. Our key focus is always on supporting the individual to lead a fulfilling and more independent life. Some of the day-to day responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
- Provide personal care and support to clients, ensuring their comfort and dignity at all times.
- Assist with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, household chores, meal preparation, medication administration.
- Support clients with mobility and transfer needs following moving and handling practices.
- Meeting their outcomes and goals as part of their EHCP.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients by adhering to hygiene standards.
- Engage with clients in meaningful activities that promote their well-being and mental health out in the community.
- Drive to various locations to participate in activities (mileage paid).
Qualifications
- Previous experience in support work is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of client care practices.
- Excellent communication skills with a compassionate approach towards clients
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and effectively.
- A valid FULL UK driving licence - obtaining business insurance is essential. (We are unable to accept international driving licences or provisional UK licences).
- Certification in health or social care would be an advantage but is not essential.
