Overview
City Place is a very busy coffee shop/café serving breakfasts, brunches, lunches and dinner at the weekend.
The menu is East London based predominantly and we aim to serve at a high level using excellent ingredients.
We are looking for an experienced chef with a strong background in preparing classic British style dishes including roast dinners, grills, savoury pies, stews, soups and classics like bread pudding, sticky toffee pudding etc. etc.
Working with our Head chef in a busy kitchen the candidate must work well under pressure and be able to integrate into a small but established team.
The job will involve mixed daytime and evening shifts and weekend working.
Part time option a possibility.
Salary range includes Tronc and could exceed estimates.
Duties
- Prepare and cook high-quality meals in accordance with menu specifications.
- Ensure all food safety guidelines are strictly adhered to, maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment.
- Collaborate with the management team to develop new menu items and improve existing offerings.
- Train and mentor kitchen staff on cooking techniques, food presentation, and safety protocols.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen area.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a culinary role within a restaurant or hospitality setting.
- Comprehensive knowledge of food preparation techniques and cooking methods.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
- A passion for culinary arts and creativity in menu development.

Pay: £14.00-£18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 36 – 46 per week
