Excell Supply are currently seeking a compassionate, resilient and dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils within a primary school setting in from September 2026 until the end of the academic year.
This rewarding role involves working closely with children who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them to access learning, develop positive relationships and achieve their individual goals. The successful candidate will play a vital role in creating a safe, nurturing and supportive environment where every child can thrive.
The successful candidate will:
- Have experience working with children with SEMH needs, behavioural challenges or additional learning needs.
- Demonstrate patience, empathy and strong behaviour management skills.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
- Support pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
- Work closely with teachers and external professionals to implement support strategies.
- Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement in learning.
- Be adaptable, proactive and committed to making a difference.
Essential Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children or young people.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners.
- An understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.
