Responsibilities
- Safely operate a variety of vehicles, including lorries and vans, to deliver goods to clients and distribution centres.
- Plan delivery routes effectively to optimise time and fuel efficiency.
- Load and unload cargo, often requiring heavy lifting, in accordance with health and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation and logs.
- Communicate professionally with clients and team members regarding delivery schedules or any issues encountered during routes.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after journeys to ensure safety and compliance.
- Follow all traffic laws, company policies, and safety procedures at all times.
Skills
- Proven experience as a delivery driver or commercial driver, with a clean driving record.
- Strong knowledge of driving regulations and road safety standards within the UK.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with clients and team members.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when required, with good physical fitness.
- Experience working in warehouse environments or logistics is advantageous.
- Organised with the ability to plan routes efficiently under time constraints.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
