An opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Diagnostic Radiographer Theatre Lead role at North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust joining a dedicated team of clinical staff, to support the provision of patient care.
we are looking for an experience theatre radiographer to lead the coordination between radiology and theatre to provide an effective and efficient service whilst adhering to departmental protocols and ensuring optimum patient care.
The candidate will also maintain their clinical skills and continue to take part in cross site rotation and shift system and maintain skills in plain film radiography and theatre work.
To contribute towards the provision of a high quality Imaging Service, whilst maintaining the highest quality standards of service and care.
You will work closely with other members of the team including radiologists, radiographers and assistants and theatre staff. You will be involved in the teaching of students and more junior members of staff to oversee staff competencies in theatre radiography.
The post holder will also participate in equipment QA programme.
The Trust operates a 24/7 shift system( 12 hour days, 12 hour nights and some 7.5 hour day shifts) which this post holder would be expected to participate.
Qualifications:
The successful applicant must have the following qualifications:
MSc/BSc/Diploma in Diagnostic radiography
HCPC Registration

Take part in the general department and cross site rotation and maintain skills in plain film radiography, theatre work and participate in the 24/7 shift system. Make professional decisions in the absence of more senior colleagues.
Be prepared to organise workload, re-arrange junior staff allocation to meet service demands.
Supervise junior radiographic staff, Assistant Practitioners and students and actively be involved in their training and development.
Provide leadership and supervision to Radiographers, Assistant Practitioners and Student Radiographers in difficult situations such as very busy periods and with patients requiring multiple examinations.
Act independently in the assessment of referrals for x-ray examinations, taking full responsibility for the justification of general x-ray examinations in order to reduce unnecessary ionising radiation exposure to patients, in accordance with departmental protocols and Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposures) Regulations (IR(ME)R) 2000.
Use knowledge and skills attained through experience, training and CPD
Report equipment faults promptly and re-arrange appointments if necessary.
Be able to respond appropriately to any complaints and attempt to resolve locally.
Ensure own practice complies with relevant legislation, e.g. IR (ME) R 2000, Trust policies and meets clinical governance requirements.
Competent and confident with all I.T. systems within Radiology for clinical use, e.g. PACS, CRIS
Coordinate theatre work and prioritisation and ensuring staff competencies are maintained.
