An Upholstery Sewing Technician for beds and headboards is responsible for creating high-quality sewn components used in upholstered bed frames, headboards, and bedroom furniture. The role focuses on precision sewing, fabric handling, and ensuring a consistent, premium finish suitable for domestic furniture.
- Measure, cut, and sew fabrics for bed frames and headboards
- Produce covers, panels, borders, and piped components to specification
- Operate industrial sewing machines (e.g., walking foot) for heavy upholstery materials
- Follow patterns, templates, and job sheets accurately
- Create features such as piping, buttoned panels, and quilted sections where required
- Ensure pattern alignment and fabric consistency across panels
- Inspect finished pieces to ensure high-quality standards and correct sizing
- Work closely with upholsterers to ensure sewn components fit frames correctly
- Maintain equipment and keep the work area clean and safe
Skills & Requirements:
- Proven experience in upholstery sewing (furniture preferred)
- Strong attention to detail, especially with seams, piping, and pattern matching
- Ability to work with thick and delicate fabrics alike
- Familiarity with industrial sewing machines and attachments
- Good understanding of measurements and accuracy
- Ability to meet production targets and deadlines
Desirable:
- Experience with deep-buttoning or decorative headboard finishes
- Knowledge of luxury fabrics and finishes used in bedroom furniture
- Teamwork experience within a furniture manufacturing environment
