Lead Gymnastics Coach & Programme Director

We are seeking an experienced, motivated and forward-thinking Lead Gymnastics Coach & Programme Director to lead, direct and grow our current gymnastics programme. This is a key leadership role within the club, combining hands-on coaching, programme development, and office-based responsibilities.
You will take the lead in shaping and expanding our gymnastics provision, ensuring high-quality delivery across all sessions while driving the development and growth of the programme.
Working Hours
Term Time (School Sessions):
- Monday – Friday in local schools
- Sessions typically run 3:15pm–4:15pm or 3:30pm–4:30pm
- Office hours: Adhoc
Club Programme Sessions:
- Midweek evening sessions
- Saturday sessions (including Saturday mornings)
Holiday Camps:
- Monday to Friday during school holidays
There may also be additional cover work for school clubs and occasional early evening sessions.
The Role
This is a self-employed position blending office-based programme management and gymnastics coaching delivery.
As Lead Coach & Programme Director, you will:
- Lead and direct the overall gymnastics programme, developing and expanding the current provision
- Plan and oversee midweek evening and Saturday club sessions
- Drive programme growth, progression pathways and class structure development
- Lead after-school gymnastics classes in Esher and surrounding areas
- Manage and support assistant coaches during sessions
- Ensure high standards of coaching, safety and professionalism across all sessions
You will typically be responsible for coaching groups of up to 15 children of similar ages at introductory and intermediate levels.
Coaching Responsibilities
You will deliver engaging, progressive sessions developing:
- Flexibility, strength and coordination
- Floor skills including rolls, jumps, balances, handstands, cartwheels, walkovers, handsprings and more
- Floor routines with connective elements
- Skills across apparatus including beams, bars, vaults and rings (venue dependent)

- Leading and mentoring assistant coaches
- Professionally interacting with children, parents, schools and colleagues
- Being punctual and reliable
- Ensuring safe set up and packing away of equipment
- Delivering structured progressions and skill development
- Communicating with parents regarding children’s progress
- Ensuring health and safety procedures are followed at all times
- Following and upholding all club policies and procedures
- Liaising with prospective and existing customers
- Strategically developing and growing the current gymnastics programme
Requirements
- British Gymnastics Qualification Level 1, 2 or higher (essential)
- Previous coaching experience preferred
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
- Strong leadership and organisational skills
- Reliable, committed and punctual
- Excellent communication skills
- Passionate about working with children
- Eligible to work in the UK
- Fluent in English
- Must live within a commutable distance of the role
