Job Overview
Everest Care Group is looking for a committed and empathetic Senior Support Worker/Team Leader to join our residential children's care team. In this pivotal role, you will play a key part in delivering outstanding care and support to young people within our home. We are seeking someone with proven leadership abilities, dedicated to creating a secure and nurturing environment, and who can communicate effectively with both staff and children. The successful applicant will have prior experience overseeing teams in a care setting and possess in-depth knowledge of developing and managing individual care plans to meet each child’s unique needs.
The rota is one day on and 5 days off, another day on and 6 days off
Requirements
Applicants must hold a Level 3 qualification in Residential Care or Children & Young People's Workforce
Duties
- Offer personalised support to children, fostering their emotional and social development .
- Assist with daily activities such as meal preparation, personal care, and organisation of leisure activities.
- Implement and review care plans in collaboration with other professionals and families.
- Support children during outings and appointments, including driving when necessary.
- Maintain clear communication with colleagues, families, and external agencies regarding progress and needs.
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of children at all times by adhering to health and safety protocols.
- Record observations, incidents, and progress accurately using IT systems and documentation tools.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the care team, ensuring consistent delivery of exceptional care standards at all times.
- Create, implement, and regularly update personalised care plans to address the unique needs of each child in our care.
- Cultivate a nurturing and encouraging atmosphere that supports the well-being and personal growth of every young person.
- Organise routine team meetings to review progress, address any issues, and develop strategies for ongoing improvement.
- Keep thorough and up-to-date records detailing each child’s progress, incidents, and any amendments to care plans.
- Ensure all practices within the home comply with current legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Support the onboarding and training of new staff, encouraging continuous professional development across the team, providing reflective supervision and debriefs.
- Drive company vehicles when required, either to transport children or to attend external meetings.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience working with children or in childcare settings is highly desirable
- Valid driving licence with the ability to drive children to appointments or activities
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively liaise with families, external professionals and team members.
- Knowledge of child development principles and care planning processes
- Proficiency in IT systems for record keeping and reporting purposes
- Compassionate nature with excellent organisational skills
- Ability to work flexibly according to rota requirements, including occasional evenings or weekends if needed
Qualification and Experience
- Demonstrated experience in a supervisory position within a care home or comparable setting is required for this role at Everest Care Group. The successful candidate will exhibit strong leadership abilities, inspiring and guiding the team to consistently deliver high standards of care.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written are essential, enabling effective engagement with both children and adults.
- A thorough understanding of care plans, alongside the flexibility to tailor them to meet each individual’s unique needs, is crucial. Competency in IT is also necessary to ensure accurate and up-to-date record-keeping and documentation.
- A valid driving licence is desirable, as the role may involve transporting children or attending meetings off-site.
- Experience in a senior care capacity or supporting children with special needs would be beneficial, although not mandatory.
