This is an exciting opportunity to join us as an Acute Medical Unit Ward Clerk.
You will be expected to oversee the efficient daily operations of the ward by delivering comprehensive support services to the nursing and clinical teams. You will be serving as the primary point of contact for all ward inquiries verbal and written. This role involves managing verbal and written communications from patients, carers, family members, and healthcare professionals with professionalism, while maintaining confidentiality and sensitivity. Additional administrative duties include admitting patients on the patient database system, answering telephone enquiries and liaising with relevant departments alongside various other admin and clerical tasks.
Strong communication and skills are essential together with the ability to prioritise workload in a busy and challenging environment.
Full training on the IT system and responsibilities will be given and a uniform is provided.

- Serve as the primary point of contact for all ward inquiries, managing verbal and written communications from patients, carers, family members, and healthcare professionals with professionalism and promptness.
- Ensuring accurate and up-to-date information is entered on to all relevant patient database systems, adhering to Data Quality standards and maintaining the integrity of ward activity records.
- Handle telephone calls, take messages, and provide information as required, ensuring effective communication within the ward.
- Manage the ordering and receiving of stock and non-stock items for the ward, ensuring adequate supplies are maintained.
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of ward documentation, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
- Support the implementation of quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and ward efficiency.
