This specialist therapeutic residential home provides care for children aged 11-17 and is based in Bracknell. The children in this home may have experienced adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) such as trauma, abuse or neglect. The home provides a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for young people to find their voice, regain their confidence, and consider others' feelings, enabling them to live a safe, supported life.
As a Children’s Therapeutic Residential Support Worker, you will play a hands-on role in ensuring that each child receives the care and support they need by providing child-centred care to help them cope with their past experiences. The home specialises in using attachment-informed approaches and Dyadic Developmental Practice (DDP), for which you will receive Level 2 training once you have completed probation. You will support their social, emotional, and behavioural development while maintaining routines and education, adhering to safeguarding procedures, and contributing to the daily running of the home.
With continuous guidance from Senior staff and ongoing professional development, you’ll receive support to ensure the best possible outcomes for the children in your care.
Salary: £27,500 - £28,500 depending on experience and qualifications
Rota: Late and long day shifts, 7 sleep ins across a 6-week rolling rota. 37.5 hours per week

Role of a Children’s Therapeutic Residential Support Worker
- Provide personalised support tailored to each child’s individual needs, wishes, and feelings
- Develop and implement individual care plans using a range of therapeutic approaches to ensure every child receives the best possible support.
- Build positive relationships by engaging with children throughout their day with encouragement, empathy, compassion, and enthusiasm.
- Create a stable and nurturing environment where children can thrive
- Develop and support consistent routines and encourage a structured lifestyle
- Encourage outdoor pursuits and healthy leisure activities to build self-confidence and life skills
- Foster a safe and trusting atmosphere that promotes the development of physical, emotional, and cognitive skills
- Encourage independence, helping children build essential social and life skills
- Support children in understanding and coping with past trauma.
- De-escalate any behaviours that challenge, and understand the reasons for them.
- Work alongside educational and clinical teams to ensure a holistic, child-centred approach to care.
- Liaise with teachers, social workers, family, and friends as needed
Requirements of a Children’s Therapeutic Residential Support Worker
- Must have a nurturing nature, compassionate and boundaried
- Must have a genuine passion for making a positive difference in children’s lives
- Must be a driver with a valid UK Driving License
- Have prior experience working with and supporting children with their emotional and behavioural needs, preferred.
- Be willing to work towards a Level 4 Residential Childcare qualification (If not already completed)
- Have a good understanding of trauma-informed practice and ACEs
- Be able to work a variety of shifts, including early, late, and weekend shifts.
