EdEx are working with a fantastic Primary School located in the heart of Tower Hamlets. The school is a warm, inclusive and supportive place to learn, with a strong focus on helping every child feel confident, valued and able to achieve.
The school are looking for an enthusiastic EAL Teaching Assistant to join them from September 2026. This is the perfect opportunity for someone who is passionate about language development, communication, literacy and supporting pupils who are new to English or developing their confidence with the English language.
You will be working across KS1 and KS2, supporting pupils both inside and outside of the classroom. The role will involve delivering 1:1 and small group support, helping pupils access the curriculum, building vocabulary, supporting reading and writing, and working closely with class teachers to ensure pupils make strong progress.

About the Role - EAL Teaching Assistant:

Supporting pupils with English as an Additional Language

Working across KS1 and KS2

Providing 1:1 and small group support
-
Supporting pupils with speaking, listening, reading and writing
-
Helping pupils build vocabulary, confidence and communication skills
-
Supporting children who may be new to English or new to the UK education system
-
Assisting pupils with accessing the wider primary curriculum
-
Working closely with class teachers to adapt support where needed
-
Helping create an inclusive, welcoming and language-rich learning environment

Supporting the class teacher with lessons, routines and behaviour management
-
£110 - £115 per day

Monday to Friday, full-time

About you as an EAL Teaching Assistant:
-
A degree from a reputable University is desirable
-
Previous experience supporting children or young people would be beneficial
-
Experience supporting EAL pupils would be desirable, but not essential
-
Strong literacy, communication and interpersonal skills
-
Patient, calm and encouraging approach
-
Able to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families
-
Confident supporting pupils in class, in small groups and on a 1:1 basis

A genuine passion for education, language development and inclusion

Ideal for aspiring Primary Teachers, Speech and Language Therapists, EAL Teachers or graduates looking to gain school-based experience
